QUEENSBAY MALL

GURNEY PARAGON MALL

Gurney Paragon Mall is Penang’s best centre for an eclectic mix of fashion trends. Set along Persiaran Gurney, the seafront complex is home to more than 40 fashion boutiques and 30 restaurants. However, what makes Paragon utterly unique is the fact that the entire 700,000sqft complex has been built around St. Joseph’s Novitiate, a 1925 chapel that has been beautifully restored and incorporated into the mall’s open-plan layout design.

The mixed development complex comprises the nine-storey mall, plus luxury residences and office towers. High fashion stores are concentrated on the first and second levels, while the best dining opportunities can be found primarily at its al fresco frontage, and its main entertainment offering (an IMAX theatre) tops its ninth floor.

STRAITS QUAY

Extending over two floors, the open air Straits Quay is a lifestyle mall along Jalan Seri Tanjung Pinang, fronting the marina and offering visitors access to several great local boutiques. Fashion brands represented include Converse, Bran et Daguet and Shoepoint, but the complex is more popular for its restaurants and bars such as Healy Mac’s Irish Bar & Restaurant, Starbucks Coffee, PappaRich, Dome Café and Blue Reef Fish & Chips.

Home to the Penang Performing Arts Centre (Penang PAC), entertainment-wise, visitors can also find a branch of popular spa specialist, Thai Odyssey, a trampoline park and private fitness centre.

Open: 10:30 – 22:30

Address: 3F-G-1 Straits Quay, Jalan Seri Tanjung Pinang, Tanjung Tokong

PENANG TIMES SQUARE

A mixed development project comprising a mall, residential tower and office block, Penang Times Square certainly has a central location along Jalan Dato Keramat, about one km away from KOMTAR. Spread across its three floors is clothing boutiques, nail parlours, tech stores, a museum and beauty salons, plus a few restaurants. Fashion-wise, expect to find local brands such as MTM Boutique, Asadi Concept Store and shoe chain, Opera. However, most people will best know the mall as the home of a couple of the island’s most popular dance clubs, basement nightclubs, Soju Room and M2.

Open: 10:00 – 22:00

Address: Jalan Dato Keramat, 10150 Georgetown, Pulau Pinang
